Flowers from the Storm

Flowers from the Storm is ultimately the story of a woman who struggles to overcome the ingrained beliefs of her childhood, and the story of a man who must come to terms with the consequences of his actions. You know they're going to get a happy ending but it's a heart wrenching trip to get there.
I originally read this book when it was first published and have read it at least four or five times. It's hard to put into words really, what I love about Laura Kinsale's novels. Maybe it's the historic detail, the unconventional characters, but I love them all like old friends and have never gotten tired of any of them.
It's extremely hard to get me to give a novel a five star rating. That rating is saved almost exclusively for rereads. Because a book is only amazing if you need to revisit it time and time again. ;-)
