I loved this book and can't wait to start the next one. It has a dash of romance in it but that is not the focus of the story. It is primarily about the relationship between the four girls in the book as they struggle against the expectations of life, family and social class. The story is set in 1895, and it is deliciously iced with an order of sorceresses and a magical land in between realms.

Highly recommended if you enjoy the fantasy novels of Robin McKinley; Mercedes Lackey, or Cassandra Clare.
