Batman and Robin, Vol. 1: Born to Kill

Batman and Robin, Vol. 1: Born to Kill - Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason, Mick Gray Collects Issue 1-8 of Batman and Robin from the DC reboot The New 52. The story isn't great but it isn't terrible either. There are a few really groan worthy bits in this. One is this bat-ninja strike to the forehead that paralyzes... really? Really? Then the scenes where Damion kills small animals and bugs; like the little psycho we know he is.

Then Peter J. Tomasi ices the cake with some of the most horrible dialogues I've ever read in a confrontation scene. The villain they are up against calls himself Nobody and let's just say it's not that puny really.

I wonder if Peter J. Tomasi just doesn't like the new Robin anymore than I do? I don't know but he didn't bring the magic here that he brought to Nightwing. Still, his characterization of Batman feels dead on and that brings the score up a bit, so I settled on three stars.
